Three playful koi swim in a pretty blue pond, their shadows underneath them. Lily pads and bubble that evoke a sense of movement surround the koi.
Cuerda seca is a glazing technique that originated in Iran, Spain and Portugal. It involves using substances that act as a resist to glazes flowing together during firing. Usually the resist will have a coloring agent to lend emphasis to the linework. I have chosen not to use a colorant for this set.
This is a one of a kind design that is completely handpainted with glossy glazes. This tile set measures 24 x 9, consists of two separate tiles, and can be used as an art display on a easel or in a shadowbox, or can be placed into an indoor tile installation like a shower or stove nook, wall, or any application you can think of for a custom tile set.
